CLUB XVIII
The Ormond Amateur Football Club will be fielding a Club 18 team in 2008.
New players are welcome to register with the club.
The Club is seeking volunteers to assist with off field roles.
Please contact the club via email oafc@bigpond.com.au if you can assist.
THURSDAY NIGHT VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED
The Football Club provides substantial meals at a reasonable price for players and others who may attend after training on a Thursday night throughout the football season.
To do that, we need the assistance of partners, parents or other family members to ease the load on our already very committed Committee members and other volunteers,
to serve up the dinners.
It’s not hard work, just a couple of hours from around 6.30 - 7.00pm. All of the food is sourced and is usually cooked by others at the Club, your role is to assist in
presenting it to the players. You can get to know the players, meet new people or catch up with others you know from around the Club and be part of the Thursday night
culture at Ormond, and of course there’s always a complimentary drink on offer for the workers!!
Depending on the number of helpers we have, you may only be required to assist on one or two nights throughout the season.

NEW APPOINTMENTS AT ORMOND
Ormond is proud to announce that Russell Barnes has been appointed senior coach for 2008. “Barney” is a true VAFA identity and legend of Ormond, having played 255 games for us from 1979 to 1996, and captaining the club from 1985 to 1989 and in 1991. A successful VAFA coach for the last 11 years at Hampton Rovers, St Bedes and Beaumaris, it is great to welcome him back in the Brown and Blue.
It is also with much pleasure that we formally welcome back recently retired AFL player Matt Robbins to Ormond. Matt played his junior football with Ormond, and he brings with him nearly 150 AFL games experience with Geelong and the Western Bulldogs. The 2007 AFL Grand Final Record states that Matt will be remembered as “…a courageous, tough-nut defender who transformed himself into an exciting small forward. A ferocious tackler who could take a big mark and kick the odd mini-bag of goals”. It will be great to not only have the benefit of Matt’s playing ability at Ormond, but also the advice, experience and mentoring he will bring to the Club.
The Club would like to thank Dave Matthews for his sterling efforts as senior coach for the past 3 years, particularly his achievements in gaining promotion for the Club in 2005."
